Thermal management of optical systems is critical due to its influence on lighting efficiency. This training course will cover the cross-effects between thermal, electrical and optical behaviors of lighting systems. The available models in Floefd to simulate those behaviors will be described and compared. The simulation of radiation (both infrared radiation and visible light) will be covered in details. The other main topic of this course deals with the simulation of humidity, condensation and  defogging using Floefd capabilities.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
  • All people involved in finding a solution for their Optical Systems can use this product and being trained. It includes Designers and engineers.

PRIMARY COURSE TOPICS

What You’ll Learn

  • How thermo-optical phenomena is impacting different applications
  • The different radiation models in FLOEFD and their respective usage
  • The different ways to model LEDs in FLOEFD and which results could be extracted
  • How to model radiation interaction with semi-transparent materials
  • How to take humidity in account and model surface condensation

Throughout this course, extensive hands-on lab exercises provide you with practical experience using software. Hands-on lab topics include:

  • Modelling a halogen light to get the touch temperature of the glass
  • Getting the luminous efficiency of a LED lighting system
  • Simulating the evaporation of the condensation on an automotive headlight.
