This course introduces how to set up electromagnetics in Simcenter STAR-CCM+. Various mesh types in the 2D and 3D space are used in examples throughout the course. Application areas of insulation breakdown, ohmic heating under sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal excitation are addressed. Flow is modeled by specific boundary conditions. Included is also a full Multiphysics simulation. Further examples introduce concepts relevant to electric machine simulation such as iron losses, magnetization definition and circuit coupling.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Engineers who want to apply Simcenter STAR-CCM+ in electric and magnetic field simulations should attend, in particular so when their aim is to analyze transient effects and the impact onto thermal analysis.
